Family: Man Accused Of Taping Children Investigated Before

Relative Claims Man Molested Daughter, Niece

Family members of a man accused of videotaping himself and a woman performing sex acts with several children said Monday that he had been under investigation for child molestation in the past.

Stephen E. Quick, 31, and Samantha Light, 25, both of Veedersburg, were arrested on March 5 after a 3-year-old girl told her mother that the couple had touched her inappropriately and photographed her while she was being baby-sat at their home on Feb. 28.

A relative of Quick told 6News' Jack Rinehart on Monday that Quick had been at the center of a child molestation case a year ago involving her then 10-year-old daughter and 9-year-old niece.

The woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, said that police investigated the case, but that charges were never brought. She said the new accusations have upset the family.

"Does it have to take a videotape, does it have to take pictures?" she said. "(I said to police,) 'You didn't do anything to him back then, and now look what happened … If you don't do anything to him right now, what's going to happen in a couple of years? You never know what's going to happen to some kids.'"

Quick and Light are accused of producing a videotape showing several sexual acts involving the couple and at least four different children between the ages of 2 months and 6 years old.

Deputies also seized several computers, cameras, a video camera, pornographic materials, sex toys, drugs and drug paraphernalia during searches of the couple's home, said Fountain County Sheriff's Department Deputy Bob Kemp.

"In 15 years of doing this job, it's the worst thing I've ever seen or imagined," he said. "Just horrible, just horrible … It's a new low."

Quick and Light had been running a baby-sitting service out of their home, police said. Neither have a criminal history.

Quick was preliminarily charged with three counts of child molestation and one count of child exploitation. Light faces four counts of child molestation and one count of child exploitation.

The couple's young daughter has been removed from the home.
