Cumberland police are looking for a 20-year-old man suffering from two knife wounds in connection with the town's first slaying in 10 years.

Craig Harris is wanted for questioning in connection with the shooting death of Andrew Rhea, 19, who was killed during an apparent robbery at a Cumberland townhome on March 11.

Cumberland police Capt. Roger Waggoner said it's believed that Rhea stabbed Harris twice in the lower abdomen before he was killed.

Witnesses told police that they heard a disturbance between at least one person and the victim before hearing a gunshot. Police said two or three men quickly fled the scene after the shooting in a white Chevrolet Astro van with a blue stripe.

Harris was described by police as black, 5 feet 11 inches tall, about 200 pounds with a large build. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Investigators said Harris may be driving a gray or silver Dodge Stratus and often frequents Vineyard Apartments and Sutton Place Apartments in Indianapolis and Berkshire Apartments in Cumberland.

Harris is also wanted on charges of domestic battery and criminal confinement out of Marion County and on suspicion of violating probation in Nevada, Waggoner said.

Investigators said the two men likely knew each other.

Rhea's father was also at home at the time of the shooting, but he was not injured.

Anyone with information was asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
