Former Police Officer Accused Of Insurance Fraud

Police: Officer Claimed Ex-Wife On Health Care Plan

A former Cumberland police officer has been charged with insurance fraud, accused of claiming his ex-wife on his health care policy nearly 15 years after they divorced.

Glen Talbot, an eight-year veteran with the department, resigned in January after an investigation by the National Insurance Crime Bureau, 6News' Jack Rinehart reported.

Glen and Kris Talbot were each charged Wednesday with insurance fraud and theft. Glen Talbot was also charged with official misconduct.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the couple divorced in 1994, but Kris Talbot continued to receive medical benefits from her ex-husband's police department health insurance plan.

Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield reported to police that more than $9,770 was paid out in medical benefits to Kris Talbot during that time.

"2004 was the most current application he filled out. Well, if you're divorced in 1994, 2004 is 10 years later, you probably know that you're not married anymore," said NICB spokesman Todd Burris.

Glen Talbot was expected to surrender to Indianapolis police Wednesday evening.
