Editor's Note: Here's an updated version of this story.

A woman died after a swordfight involving her brother-in-law and her grandson at a home on Indianapolis' far-northwest side early Thursday morning.

Indianapolis police Sgt. Matt Mount said Adolf Stegbauer, 69, and Chris Rondeau, 39, were involved in an argument at a home in the 5200 block of Raceway Road at about 1 a.m.

One of the men grabbed a sword as the dispute escalated, prompting the other man to also brandish a sword.

Franziska Stegbauer, 77, stepped between the men and was stabbed. She later died at Wishard Memorial Hospital.

The two men were also taken to Wishard suffering from stab wounds.

It was not immediately known if the woman's death was a result of stab wounds or a possible heart attack, police said.

Investigators are trying to determine who started the fight and which man stabbed the other first.
