INDIANAPOLIS -- An '80s rocker from Indiana is accused of throwing methamphetamine out of his vehicle as he was being pulled over by police.Henry Lee Swartz, 53, better known by the stage name Henry Lee Summer, was charged in Marion County Thursday with possession of methamphetamine, obstruction of justice and two counts of resisting law enforcement.According to the probable cause affidavit, Summer was pulled over Tuesday on Indianapolis' west side for failing to signal.
The officer said he saw Summer throw an object out of the vehicle and continue driving. When Summer finally pulled over, the officer had to use pepper spray to subdue him, police said.The object was later identified as a box containing crystal methamphetamine, investigators said.In 2007, Summer pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in connection with a September 2006 incident in which he hit four parked cars.Summer, a native of Brazil, Ind., scored a pair of Top 20 hits on the pop charts in the late '80s with "I Wish I Had A Girl" and "Hey Baby." He has toured as a musician since the early '80s.His initial hearing on the latest charges is set for Tuesday morning.
