INDIANAPOLIS -- It's been a year since playing cards profiling unsolved crimes were distributed among Indiana inmates, and while no cases have been solved yet, the tips they've prompted have been valuable, officials said.

The decks include information about 52 unsolved slayings and missing-person cases from around the state, 6News' Renee Jameson reported.

So far, more than 13,000 of the sets have been distributed as the only playing cards for sale at Department of Correction facilities.

While no cases on the cards have been solved yet, officials said they remain hopeful.

"Having the cards in the institutions has resulted in a number of our offenders who have called in and said, 'I think I know something about this or that,'" said spokesman Doug Garrison. "It hasn't resulted in a solution yet, but we're confident that it will."

Officials are already working on a new set of cards, profiling 52 new cases.

Darlene Pitts said she hopes her sister's disappearance 16 years ago makes the list. Lola Katherine Fry, 28, was last seen with her ex-boyfriend at an east side Indianapolis apartment complex.

"You just don't have any kind of closure. It's 16 years later, I still don't have it, and I still want it," Pitts said. "It only takes the right eyes seeing the right thing at the right place and you can find her."

The second deck of cold case cards is set to go into production in the next few months.
