A jail deputy who also worked as an unpaid reserve deputy with the Amo Police Department was suspended from his jail job and resigned from the police force after he was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk.

Wayne Johnson was arrested just after 3 a.m. Friday near County Road 525 East and County Road 200 South.

Police said Johnson failed several field sobriety tests and registered a blood-alcohol content of .12 percent.

He was preliminarily charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Amo Police Chief Chris Nelson said Johnson resigned shortly after his arrest.

6News requested a mug shot on Monday, but workers at the Hendricks County Jail said that none was taken after Johnson's arrest.

His initial court hearing is set for Thursday morning.
