Mom: 'I Just Don't Understand Why'

The mother of one of three people found slain Friday in an apartment on Indianapolis' east side is trying to come to grips with what happened to her son.

Jerromey Wingfield, 22, Devon Bledsoe, 19, and Shawnice Dunlap, 21, were found dead inside an apartment at Cedar Ridge, near 38th Street and German Church Road.

"I don’t understand why. I just don't understand why," said Regina Watson (pictured), Wingfield's mother, as she wiped away tears.

Flanked by family and friends, Watson remains distraught over her son, who lived with his high school sweetheart in the apartment.

Flowers, bears and notes sit outside the door of the apartment, which has been sealed by investigators.

"It wasn't real until I remember them taking the bodies out," Watson said.

Police have not released details about how Wingfield, Bledsoe and the woman were killed, but called it a brutal slaying.

Wingfield's best friend, David Ward, said he doesn't know of anyone who would've wanted to hurt him.

"Jerromey never said anything to me about him having any conflicts … so we don't really know where this came from," Ward said. "This just hit us out of nowhere."

Wingfield worked at Glass Rite Manufacturing, 6News' Sarah Cornell reported. Friends said he was thinking about going back to school to play football.

"He and his girl were trying to plan a future together," said another of Wingfield's friends.

Police have talked with several witnesses, but no arrests have been made. Family members pleaded with the killer to come forward.

"This is your time to ask forgiveness, because God has the ultimate say on that," Watson said.

Police asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
