INDIANAPOLIS -- Police arrested two people Thursday during a sting at an Indianapolis McDonald's where workers were suspected of dealing drugs in the restaurant's bathrooms.Lt. Jeffrey Duhamell said that the manager at the McDonald's at 38th and Illinois streets called police last month after she suspected that some employees were selling heroin at the restaurant, 6News' Sarah Cornell reported.Charles Reynolds, 58, and Jeff O'Neill, 28 -- who are not McDonald's employees -- were arrested during Thursday's sting. O'Neill is a drag racer with the International Hot Rod Association.
Duhamell said officers found O'Neill shooting up with heroin in his vehicle at the McDonald's and that Reynolds was also in the vehicle.O'Neill did not comment to 6News when asked about his arrest.Duhamell said no drugs were found inside the restaurant, and that no McDonald's employees were arrested in the sting. However, he said that several workers are under investigation.Police began investigating activity at the restaurant about a week ago."They set up business anywhere, but it's unfortunate that they have to use this store," Duhamell said.A spokesperson for McDonald's reiterated to 6News that no employees were arrested and that the company is cooperating with police.
