A man was found fatally shot in the yard of a home on Indianapolis' east side early Friday morning.

Indianapolis police were called to the 3800 block of Campbell Avenue at 4:40 a.m. after a newspaper delivery driver reported seeing a body.

Steven Anthony McCloud, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he had been shot several times.

McCloud is from Indianapolis but did not live near where he was found.

Lt. Jeff Duhamell said neighbors reported hearing loud noises in the area about an hour before the body was found, but thought they were hearing fireworks.

Police said they don't know of a motive or have any information about possible suspects in McCloud's slaying.

Duhamell asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
