INDIANAPOLIS -- A postal carrier who was shot in the face by a fleeing bank robber in Wanamaker last week underwent surgery to rebuild part of his right eye socket and shattered cheekbone. The accused gunman, Brooke Abebe, 43, shot Bob Norman, 54, of Franklin on Thursday outside a Chase bank branch in the 8800 block of Southeastern Avenue.Norman has retained sight in his eye, and Deb Norman said her husband is expected to be released from the hospital by the weekend following Tuesday's surgery.Norman said he followed the robber outside to get a good look at his vehicle and license plate, but collided with him after rounding a corner and was shot after scuffling over the gun."I went around the corner, and we were face-to-face. He was in my face," Norman said over the weekend. "He was bringing the gun up, and I grabbed the pistol with my hand and he shot me in the face."Norman said the only thing he would change would be to "duck a little more."
