Police: Car, Not Officer, Struck During Chase

Police: Officer Not Seriously Hurt

POSTED: 5:53 pm EDT July 9, 2009
UPDATED: 7:09 pm EDT July 9, 2009

Indianapolis police said an officer's vehicle, not the officer, was struck during a chase on the city's west side Thursday, clarifying earlier reports.

Sgt. Paul Thompson said the vehicle was struck when police responded to possible drug activity at the Cambridge Station Apartments in the 600 block of Ashford Drive near 10th Street and Girl School Road just after 5 p.m.

Police pursued the driver -- a 17-year-old -- and took him into custody a few minutes later in the same area. Police were still looking for another person who was possibly involved in the alleged drug deal.

The officer whose vehicle was struck was not injured.
