Police: Prostitute Fatally Stabbed John After Threat

INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman told police she fatally stabbed a man who picked her up for sex and then threatened to hurt her.

Officers were called to 3460 W. Kansas St. just after 5:30 p.m., said Sgt. Paul Thompson.

Neighbors said 42-year-old Brenda Taylor ran out of the home naked and covered in blood, screaming for help.

Taylor told police that she had agreed to accompany David Cook, 55, to his home and engage in a sex act. But she said that he refused to pay and then threatened her with a knife.

She said she found another knife in the kitchen and stabbed him in self-defense.

Both Taylor and Cook were transported to Wishard Memorial Hospital, where Cook was pronounced dead. Taylor suffered knife wounds to her hands and arm, but was listed in stable condition.

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will decide if any charges will be filed in the case.

Taylor does have a criminal history that includes a conviction for prostitution and possession of a controlled substance.
