Do you think charges will be filed in the Jill Behrman case?

Eric Behrman, who previously had expressed frustration at the lack of charges in the case, told reporters he and his wife had a "very productive" discussion with Prosecutor Carl Salzmann.

Behrman's daughter, Jill Behrman, disappeared in May 2000.

"We are convinced that the prosecutor's office is committed to justice for Jill, and we will try to remain patient while the prosecutor's office does its job," Eric Behrman said Tuesday in the lobby of the county's courthouse.

Salzmann, who appeared with the Behrmans in the lobby, declined to comment about the 90-minute meeting.

Authorities have said they believe Jill Behrman (pictured, above left) was hit by a vehicle while she was riding her bike in May 2000. Investigators said they believe she was then taken to Monroe County's Salt Creek, where they believe she was killed and her body dumped.

Sources close to the investigation told RTV6 on condition of anonymity that Wendy Owings, 28, confessed that she was in a truck that struck Behrman.

Owings and someone she allegedly implicated, Alisha Sowders, 21, are being held in the Monroe County Jail on charges not related to the Behrman case.

A suspect identified by authorities, Uriah Clouse, is being held in the Brown County Jail on charges not related to the Behrman case.

Searches of the creek have turned up evidence in the case, but her body has not been found, investigators have said.

Jill Behrman was 19 when she disappeared.

Before Tuesday's meeting, Eric Behrman (pictured, left) said he would want Salzmann to present the case to a grand jury if he didn't want to file charges outright.

After the meeting, Salzmann said a grand jury was a possibility, but he didn't indicate when one might be convened.

A grand jury consists of civilians who hear secret testimony before deciding whether to indict a suspect.
