INDIANAPOLIS -- A 2-year-old girl shot in the head during an Indianapolis wedding reception has returned home from a hospital 10 days after she was wounded.Yuridia Sosa left Methodist Hospital on Tuesday with much of her head's left side shaved, showing a three-inch scar, and a bandage over the bullet's entry wound.Mariela Rodriguez called her daughter's recovery a miracle from God.
Neurosurgeon Michael Turner said the bullet penetrated only a small portion of Yuridia's brain. She faces another surgery and more physical therapy.Francisco Ponce, 21, was charged with aggravated battery in the shooting.Authorities said he and two of his brothers showed up uninvited and looking for a fight at the July 25 wedding reception for Yuridia's uncle.Marion County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Mario Massillamany said Ponce is an illegal Mexican immigrant and that prosecutors will seek to have him deported after the case is concluded.
