POSTED: 3:22 p.m. EST March 14, 2003

Six Labrador retrievers confiscated from a south side pet store owner have been adopted, officials announced Friday.

Seized Puppies

Animal control officials said earlier in the week that time was running out for the dogs.

After the plight of the dogs was made public, enough people responded with offers of new homes.

The dogs were seized from Nutt & Butt Puppys in December.

The owner, Angela Cummings, was accused of neglecting dogs at her store and of selling animals with health problems, such as congenital defects, infections and respiratory problems, RTV6 reported.

Officials said the animals needed special care because they were not properly socialized and were be a little aggressive.

The shelter took extra steps to screen potential owners to make sure they could handle the dogs.
