An Attica man was arrested Saturday in the beating death of another man, state police said.

James Clayton Gaskill, 27, confronted Chad A. Wamsley, 26, of Williamsport, Saturday morning about a person they both knew, said Sgt. Kim Riley.

Gaskill attacked Wamsley, beating him until he fell to the ground, and was eventually left unconscious, police said.

Bystanders called 911 and started CPR on Wamsley, who air lifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was pronounced dead just after 4 p.m., Riley said.

Gaskill was arrested on a preliminary charge of involuntary manslaughter. He was being held at the Warren County Jail with no bond Saturday night.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Trooper Detective Jim Cody at 765-567-2125 or 800-382-7537.
