The mother of an infant girl who suffered brain and neurological damage after police said she was left unattended in a bathtub has been charged with neglect.

Beverlie B. Lamborne, 30, of Pendleton, was arrested Monday on a charge of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Lamborne left her 6-week-old daughter unattended in chest-deep water in bathtub in a baby bather seat on Jan. 21.

The girl fell into the water, and was found unresponsive, police said.

The girl was in critical condition at Riley Hospital for Children for several days, and suffered brain and neurological damage, blindness and extreme pain in the aftermath of the incident, according to the charge filed against Lamborne.

The child has been placed with her paternal grandparents.
