UPDATED: 4:25 pm EDT September 19, 2009

Police are looking for a motorist who struck a bicyclist early Saturday morning near downtown.

Indianapolis police were called to the 600 block of North Delaware Street just after 3 a.m.

Sgt. Matt Mount said officers found Paul Nihiser, 28, lying in the street near the bike he had been riding.

Witnesses told police that the man had been riding northbound on Delaware Street when a driver in a dark-colored Chevrolet Malibu hit him and then fled northbound.

Police think the car may have dark tinted windows and front-end damage.

The man who was struck was taken to Methodist Hospital with massive head injuries and is not expected to live, Mount said.

Police asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
