Governor Replaces Judge Who Resigned During Ethics Probe
Rudolph Pyle III New Madison Circuit Court Judge

ANDERSON, Ind. -- A deputy prosecutor has been appointed as the new judge of Madison Circuit Court, replacing a longtime judge who resigned while facing an ethics investigation.Gov. Mitch Daniels appointed Rudolph Pyle III, 39, of Anderson, to the position on Sunday.Pyle has been a deputy prosecutor in Madison County since 2002 and was an Indiana state trooper for four years.
Pyle is a Republican who will complete the term of former Judge Fredrick Spencer, 71, that goes through next year.Spencer had been a judge for 26 years and resigned last month amid a judicial ethics commission investigation of a lawyer's claim that he had decided a murder defendant's sentence ahead of time.Spencer had been disciplined by the commission three times in prior cases that resulted in a 30-day suspension without pay, a public reprimand and a public admonition.
