POSTED: 10:59 a.m. EST April 21, 2003
INDIANAPOLIS -- Investigators don't believe a hate crime was behind a fire that badly burned the owner of a south side restaurant.
Afghan native Abdullah Naderi suffered second- and third-degree burns over 60 percent of his body following the March 24 fire.
Naderi reportedly claimed that two men ran inside the Eastern Kitchen Buffet and set him on fire.
Franklin Township Fire Department officials said the evidence supports an arson theory, RTV6 reported.
Officials are questioning Naderi's business partners about an insurance policy take out on the restaurant a few days before the fire, RTV6 reported.
