Four people were injured in two shootings in Indianapolis overnight.

The first shooting happened at about 11 p.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of Cornell Avenue.

Indianapolis police Sgt. Paul Thompson said a 34-year-old man was shot in the chest during an apparent robbery. He was taken to Methodist Hospital in critical condition.

The other shooting happened about an hour later in the 1500 block of North Olney Street.

Police said three men -- Charles Gilbert, 20; Thomas Staten, 21; and Rodney Taylor, 27 -- were shot during a Halloween party and that all of them are expected to survive.

"Detectives are getting conflicting reports of what happened," Thompson said. "They do know that there was a Halloween party … prior to a fight breaking out in front of that residence."

Police asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
