INDIANAPOLIS -- The food is safe to eat -- that's the message that the company that runs concessions at Lucas Oil Stadium wants to send.Centerplate and Capital Improvement Board officials gave media members a tour of the stadium Friday to show that the areas of concern involving food and health safety had been cleaned up, 6News' Ericka Flye reported."We're just incredibly pleased with where the stadium is today and encourage you all to just take a look around," said Robert Pascal, senior vice president of market and sales for Centerplate.Media members were only given access to two areas in the entire stadium -- one pantry and one concession area, both of which appeared to be clean.Centerplate said the Marion County Health Department checked the stadium over the last couple of days and gave them the green light to continue to serve food.Dead rodents and mice droppings, along with other issues, led to violations and additional inspections."If I'm paying that much, I want to make sure it's good food and there's nothing wrong with the food," said Greg Havey, who was at the stadium for the Bands of America competition.Centerplate said exterminators will conduct daily inspections to ensure the pest problem stays under control.Concession worker Brandi Starks said concession areas were intensely cleaned Friday."They've been in here since about 5 o'clock this morning," she said. "So if there was anything that was a problem, the problem is gone now."A plan of action the company released said employees will be given additional training and will face possible disciplinary action if they don't follow cleanliness rules.
