A six-week-long investigation netted hundreds of marijuana plants and a key arrest Wednesday, state police said.

Investigators searched two homes belonging to Daniel R. Nells, 44, in Starke and Fulton counties early Wednesday.

In the Fulton County home, they found an active indoor marijuana grow operation with more than 700 plants, growing equipment and drug paraphernalia, while handguns and cash were discovered at the Starke County home, said Sgt. Tony Slocum.

Nells was found in a camper on the Fulton County property and arrested.

He was preliminarily charged with possession of marijuana over 30 grams, dealing marijuana over 30 grams, possessing drug paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance in Fulton County.

Police said the marijuana plants have an estimated street value of $700,000.
