Fire Heavily Damages Office Building

No Injuries Reported

POSTED: 8:06 am EST November 19, 2009

Flames raged at a Bloomington office building Wednesday evening, heavily damaging businesses inside.

The fire broke out at about 6 p.m. in the Eastplex building, near College Mall, in the 4600 block of Morningside Drive.

No injuries were reported, but damage to the building was extensive.

Bloomington Fire Chief Roger Kerr said there was severe fire damage to the roof and second floor and water damage to the first and second floors.

Kerr said it took firefighters about two hours to bring the fire under control.

Several people who were working inside at the time the fire began were able to safely leave the building.
