BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Bloomington police are looking for a man caught on surveillance video carrying out a bizarre burglary. The man ransacked Bland's Car and Truck dealership on Nov. 12 sometime after 8 p.m., shattering a window to get in, and then cutting the phone lines and alarm, 6News' Ericka Flye reported; however, he forgot one thing -- the surveillance system."(Those wires) shut everything down except for our security," said manager Steve Wall. "He knocked out the alarm, but he didn't knock out the surveillance."
The tape caught a strange two-hour burglary spree, during which the man stole the master key ring with keys to all of the lot's vehicles and a white cargo van loaded with a high-priced scooter. In the middle of the theft, however, the man is seen leaving the dealership and running to a fast food restaurant across the street."He did go across the street to Rally's and got him a sandwich," said dealership owner Jason Bland.Spooked by a passer-by, the man at one point jumped into a nearby canal, where he lost the master key ring.He continued on his spree before driving away in the van, with the scooter in the back. The van was recovered in a nearby vacant lot, but the scooter, which had a dead battery and a flat tire at the time, was still missing Friday.Bland and Wall said they're glad the security cameras may be able to help police, but that it was exasperating to watch."(It was) extremely frustrating," Bland said. "I really wish we could find him."Anyone with information is asked to call Bloomington police.
