INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis police officer accused of keeping information from detectives in a homicide investigation has been cleared in the case.Candi Perry, 47, was indicted in October by a Marion County grand jury on charges of official misconduct, a Class D felony, and false reporting, a Class A misdemeanor. But police officials said Tuesday that prosecutors were expected to announce on Wednesday that all charges against Perry would be dropped.Perry's attorney, former Public Safety Director Robert Turner, said Tuesday night that he had not received confirmation from the prosecutor's office that the charges had been dropped, but had a meeting with safety officials Wednesday morning to discuss the case. The indictment alleged that in late June, Perry knowingly provided false information to officers investigating the slaying of a west side man in the 3100 block of Rader Street after she was asked to come up with a possible suspect.Perry, who was named "Community Policing Officer of the Year" in 2008, disputed the claims, telling 6News that she was the victim of a smear campaign by the department.Police said Perry is still suspended without pay and that her case is still under review. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office did not return calls for comment Tuesday evening.
