Indianapolis police are looking for a driver who struck a woman as she left church Tuesday night, killing her.

Kristen Grimes, 28, was hit just before 8 p.m. in the 4900 block of East 38th Street, said Sgt. Paul Thompson.

Witnesses said Grimes was crossing from the north side of the street after leaving a nearby church when she was struck by a gray, late `70s model Chevrolet traveling westbound. The driver did not stop.

Grimes was transported to Wishard Memorial Hospital, where she died a half-hour later.

The vehicle should have front-end damage, Thompson said. Police asked anyone with information to call police or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.
