Woman Killed In 2-Vehicle Wreck

Police Not Sure Why Woman Hit Other Car

POSTED: 4:13 pm EST November 29, 2009

A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Hancock County Sunday morning.

The Hancock County Sheriff's Department said Mallory Nichols, 22, of Indianapolis, was southbound on Mount Comfort Road about two miles north of Interstate 70 when she crossed the center line and hit another vehicle nearly head-on.

Nichols was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other car, Melissa Jones, 35, of McCordsville, was listed in fair condition at Methodist Hospital Sunday.

Police are not sure what caused Nichols to drift into the other lane and are awaiting toxicology results.
