INDIANAPOLIS -- The creator of a musical that young dancers paid to be a part of said he will refund parents after the production never made it on stage.A July performance of "Oz the Musical," based on the classic "Wizard of Oz," was abruptly canceled, leaving dancers from Indianapolis, Avon and Greenwood short their $50 performance fee, 6News' Rafael Sanchez reported.Parents told Sanchez that they requested refunds from Texas-based Magic Money Productions, but never received any money. There have been similar complaints about canceled performances across the country, including in Tennessee, Ohio and Florida.Local parents said they became concerned when it was announced the show would return to Indianapolis' Murat Theatre on Dec. 8."When I heard that the other day that they were back in town, (I said,) you've got to be kidding me," said Venus Cannon, who said she is owed $50.The show's creator, Todrick Hall, told Sanchez that Magic Money Productions no longer promotes the show, and that he had no idea what was done with the money."I want to pay back every child that was impacted by this. It's throughout Florida. It's all over the country. It's just not Indianapolis," he said. "We are trying to fix the situation for everyone."Hall said that if the Dec. 8 show turns a profit, he will use the money to refund the dancers who were never repaid in July."No one can legally do anything to me. I'm doing this because it's morally and ethically the right thing to do," he said.Magic Money Productions had not responded to 6News' calls for a comment Tuesday evening.
