A third man was arrested Friday night in connection with a robbery that led to the driver of an SUV crashing into a day care center, injuring five people on Indianapolis' northeast side on Thursday.

Theo Sanford, 19, and Darron Crowe, 21, were charged with armed robbery, carrying a handgun without a license and fleeing police in the incident at a Family Dollar store that happened before the SUV hit Stepping Stones Child Care, at 46th Street and Keystone Avenue, early Thursday afternoon.

Nathaniel Harris was arrested in the 4200 block of North Mitthoefer Road Friday night and preliminarily charged with robbery, carrying a handgun without a license, confinement and fleeing police. He was also charged with a drug possession warrant out of Shelby County.

Surveillance video released by police Friday shows two men in the store. One of them jumps over a counter, and the other keeps a gun trained on the counter.

The men stayed in the store for a couple of minutes before leaving and crashing into the day care, police said.

A store worker called 911 after the robbery.

"Just been robbed at gunpoint … they took everything out of the register," the caller said. "I had a gun in my face, and that's it. They ran out the door."

Javion Miller, 5, who was critically injured when the SUV hit the day care center, was upgraded to serious condition on Friday.

Injuries to the other four people were not life-threatening.

The SUV caught fire when it went into the brick building, where there were several children inside.

Dozens of children who would have normally been at the facility were on a field trip.

Investigators said Sanford owns the SUV and that they found cash inside, along with a handgun and clothing that was used in the robbery.

Court records show that Sanford was in court on drug charges hours before the robbery.

Police conducted an internal review of what happened as an officer tried to catch the men in the SUV.

Acting Public Safety Director Mark Renner commended the officer for her actions.

"If you put it to the public, 'Do you want us to let armed felons simply go without any effort to apprehend them, or do you want your police department to take all reasonable steps to arrest these people?" Renner said.

Renner emphasized that the officer did nothing wrong.
