FRANKLIN, Ind. -- A 19-year-old woman faces a felony child abuse charge because of serious injuries her 3-month-old daughter suffered, police said. The Johnson County Sheriff's Department said Lauren Gonzalez, of Franklin, told police earlier this week that she became "angry and frustrated" with the girl, Isabela Gonzalez, and that her rough handling of the child could have caused the injuries. The infant was taken to Riley Hospital for Children, suffering from multiple fractures and internal injuries, including a possibly lacerated liver.Investigators said Isabella's skull was fractured and that she had broken bones in her legs and ribs, along with stomach bruises.Gonzalez said she may have bumped the child's head on a car seat, causing additional injury."Lauren agreed to write a … statement indicating she became angry at times and was sorry she got frustrated with Isabella and did not want to hurt her," said Detective Kirby Cochran, in a police report.Isabella is slowly recovering from her injuries, police said. The girl's father works two jobs and was not involved in the abuse, police said.
