Investigators: Fire Likely Started In Kitchen

RUSHVILLE, Ind. -- A longstanding restaurant in Rushville was heavily damaged Thursday in an early-morning fire.The Park Restaurant at 1015 N. Jackson St. caught fire just after 5 a.m., and flames were coming from the roof when firefighters arrived, fire officials said.Images: Popular Restaurant Damaged In Fire"We got the call from one of the Park Restaurant employees who said there had been a fire, but thought they had put it out. Then the owner came out and saw that there was still some smoke in the roof area," Rushville Fire Chief Chuck Jenkins told the Rushville Republican newspaper.Investigators said the blaze likely started in the building's kitchen.No injuries were reported.The restaurant has been a fixture in the city for more than 50 years.
