A man was killed and two people were injured in a Christmas Day shooting on Indianapolis' east side.

The shooting happened just after 2 p.m. in the 400 block of Oakland Avenue, Indianapolis police Lt. Jeff Duhamell said.

When officers arrived, they found Jeffrey Howell, 20, of Indianapolis, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said one other man and two women had been at the scene of the shooting but left before police arrived.

"Authorities have one individual (man) at Wishard (Memorial) Hospital … with a gunshot wound to the shoulder," Duhamell said.

The two women have been found and were being interviewed late Friday, Duhamell said.

Police are looking for more people who may have been involved. Investigators think narcotics and robbery were possible motives.

The names of the other people believed to be involved in the shooting were not released.
