Indianapolis Business Profits From Saints Victory

An Indianapolis Colts loss wasn't what many Adidas workers wanted, but it's good news for the company.

Employees at the company's facility on Indianapolis' east side were up all night cranking out Super Bowl champion apparel, 6News' Julie Pursley reported.

Employees toiled in 12-hour shifts to print up T-shirts, sweatshirts and other items.

"We can see the silver lining," said Joe Cripe, of Adidas. "While we're disappointed because we're Colts fans, this is great for our business."

Before the Super Bowl, Adidas had four times the number of orders for Saints championship gear than Colts items. The company expected to send more than 100,000 T-shirts out on Monday.

"Today, it's our job to get them printed and get them shipped," Cripe said. "We hope to be shipping every day this week."

Adidas expects to continue churning out Saints item as long as the demand is there. Because it was the city's first Super Bowl win, it's expected that there will be plenty of people eager to buy the items.

"The Saints are a great market. They draw regionally – Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, east Texas, even the panhandle of Floirida," said Blake Lundberg, of Adidas.

Adidas has contracts with smaller screen printing businesses to keep up with demand.

"It's kind of bittersweet, but you've got to do what you've got to do. Do your job and move on," said Mike Patrick, of Majestic 360, one of Adidas' contractors. "We printed ... last night about 33,000, and we have another 20,000 to 25,000 today."
