A woman was killed in a fire at her home on Indianapolis' near-northwest side Sunday morning.

Indianapolis firefighters were called to the 2800 block of East Riverside Drive at about 10 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found flames shooting out of all sides of the house.

Firefighters found a woman in an upstairs bedroom, but she was unresponsive as they pulled her out.

The woman, whose identity wasn't immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

At least two other family members made it out of the home alive.

The cause of the fire wasn't immediately known, but investigators think it might have started downstairs and spread up a staircase, keeping the woman from being able to escape.

The American Red Cross was providing assistance to relatives of the victim who also lived at the home.
