An Indianapolis man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he ran from a crash, leaving his 1-year-old son behind, police said.

Officers were called to the 8000 block of East 38th Street on the report of a minor crash.

According to the police report, Torrien L. Jefferson, 25, caused the wreck, but then ran from the scene, leaving his young son in the backseat of his SUV.

Jefferson was found about a half-mile from the crash site and arrested. He was preliminarily charged with neglect of a dependent and failing to stop after an accident.

The boy's mother, Tiffanney D. Jackson, 21, came and picked up the boy.

Child Protective Services is investigating.
