INDIANAPOLIS -- A man was arrested Tuesday night after a scuffle with his 9-year-old son outside an elementary school.Indianapolis police said Dana Forte, 46, of Greenwood, was enraged with his son's performance at a basketball game at Robey Elementary School and got into an argument with the boy.The boy's mother and sister told police that Forte "grabbed (the boy) by the arm and threw him to the ground and yelled at him, stating that he was going to kick his [expletive]," according to a police report. The boy was able to get away from his father, but was thrown to the ground a second time, the boy's mother and sister told police, causing scratches to the boy's chest. The account of the incident that the boy's mother and sister provided to police was corroborated by the game's referee, who told police he witnessed the incident.Forte told police that the boy's mother asked him to comfort the child, who was upset about the outcome of the game, and that the boy became upset with him and pulled away, at which point Forte claimed that he put the boy on the ground to get control of him.Forte was arrested on a felony charge of battery. He was told not to attend any more games at Robey Elementary School, police said.
