A firearms technician with the Marion County Crime Lab was grazed by a ricocheting bullet Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Douglas Boxler, 36, was test firing a gun in the lab in the basement of the Marion County Jail just before 2:30 p.m., said Sgt. Paul Thompson.

Police said that when Boxler fired the gun, the bullet bounced back and grazed his head.

Other crime lab employees performed first aid until medics arrived. Boxler was transported to Methodist Hospital in good condition.

Thompson said he is expected to make a full recovery.
