POSTED: 8:22 am EST March 11, 2010
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Two new pedestrian crosswalks are being designated for a busy street on Indiana University's campus near where a student was fatally struck by a car in September.University officials said the crosswalks will be completed on Fee Lane when students return to classes after spring break on March 22.The mid-block crosswalks are planned for near the McNutt Quad residence hall and the Kelley School of Business building. The university also plans a pedestrian safety awareness campaign that will include information on campus Web sites, Facebook and Twitter messaging, handouts, posters and bus placards. The project was recommended by a campus safety task force after Peter Duong, 19, of Terre Haute, was killed while crossing Fee Lane. The man who struck Duong was cited for driving with a suspended license.
