INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman was arrested on charges of child neglect and possession of marijuana after neighbors found her 3-year-old child wandering between parked cars.Indianapolis police were called to the 1100 block of South Villa Avenue at about 10:30 a.m., near Keystone Avenue and Raymond Street.Lt. Jeff Duhamell said police found an open door when they arrived at the home. The child's mother, Camieo Scott, smelled of marijuana when officers found her, police said."We're there for a couple of minutes before, finally, the mother comes down the stairs, and she obviously wasn't being attentive to her child," Cmdr. Cliff Myers told 6News' Jack Rinehart. As she was being arrested, Scott's sister, Alexis Scott, came to the scene and was arrested because she interfered with the investigation, police said.Scott told police repeatedly that she's a good mother. Others in the neighborhood came to her defense."I noticed that when I went inside to see Camieo she was actually asleep. She wasn't smoking weed like they said she was," said a neighbor who didn't want to give his name. "The only thing I gotta say about it is Camieo is a good mom."Police said they're grateful a neighbor called 911."She obviously thinks she's a good mother. We have a different perspective," Myers said. "We're not talking about a puppy here. We're talking about a child."The child was placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.
