Remains believed to be that of a woman who hadn't been heard from since December are found in her home.

Remains Found Months After Woman Last Heard From

Death Investigation Launched

POSTED: 2:54 pm EST March 11, 2010

Partially decomposed remains of a person were found Wednesday in the Johnson County home of a woman who hadn't been heard from in months, prompting a death investigation.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Department was called to a home in the 5300 block of West Smokey Row Road when nearby residents became concerned about Penny Morgan, 57.

Family and friends had not heard from Morgan since December 2009.

Police said a partially decomposed body was found in Morgan's home. The person had been dead for quite some time.

The identity of the person was not released, but police think it is Morgan.

Johnson County sheriff's Col. Doug Cox said police don't know how the person died.
