Brownstown police are investigating a fire that destroyed a Little League building on Saturday.

A person walking their dog at Brownstown City Park saw the fire and called 911 just before 2 p.m., said Officer Thomas Wright.

Investigators said the building, which belonged to the Brownstown Baseball Association, was a total loss. Two lawn mowers for the baseball diamonds, several picnic tables and baseball equipment also burned.

Brownstown Fire Chief Andy Lockman said it appeared the fire started behind the building.

Witnesses said they saw a burgundy-reddish Chevrolet Avalanche-type truck parked near the batting cages with two men inside. The vehicle left just prior to the fire being discovered, police said.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the Brownstown Police Department at 812-358-2345.
