The former secretary at an Indianapolis high school is charged with stealing funds from the athletic department.

Jacqueline A. Crowell, 49, who worked at Warren Central High School, was arrested Friday after a nearly year-long investigation by state police.

Investigators said school officials notified authorities after large amounts of money from athletic events were never deposited into the intended accounts.

Crowell was employed as a secretary for the school's athletic department, and was responsible for handling funds.

She was preliminarily charged with one count of theft and was released on bond.

Police did not say how much money had gone missing.
