Pilot Makes Emergency Landing On Highway
Carmel Pilot Says Plane Lost All Power

REELSVILLE, Ind. -- The pilot of a small plane made a dramatic emergency landing along a western Indiana highway by swooping down over vehicles to land safely on U.S. 40 Friday night, police said.Indiana State Police Sgt. Rich Myers said the pilot said his single-engine Cessna suddenly lost all power, forcing him to make the emergency landing about 7:20 p.m."According to witnesses, the plane flew just over the top of two vehicles traveling eastbound," Myers said.Pilot John Snyder, 66, of Carmel, was treated at the scene for minor injuries, but his passenger, a 13-year-old girl, was not injured.Myers said the plane was headed from Toledo, Ohio, to Terre Haute when it landed about 50 miles southwest of Indianapolis.One of the wings of the aircraft was damaged when it struck traffic signs before coming to a stop on the four-lane roadway's grassy median.The FAA and NTSB are handling the investigation.
