MARTINSVILLE, Ind. -- A special prosecutor has been appointed to consider whether two central Indiana police officers should face criminal charges for slapping and shocking an unruly 10-year-old boy with stun gun.Morgan County Prosecutor Steve Sonnega asked a judge to remove his office from the case because of its working relationship with the Martinsville Police Department.Former Greene County Prosecutor David Powell was named to the case.Martinsville police Capt. William Jennings and Officer Darren Johnson have been assigned to limited desk duty, pending the results of the investigation. The officers were called to Tender Teddies Day Care on March 30, where the boy hit, kicked and spit on a caretaker, authorities said.Police said the officers slapped and shocked the 94-pound boy after he kicked one officer as they tried to restrain him.Jennings, a 36-year veteran of the force, left the slapping incident out of his police report. Johnson, who has been with the department for three years, included both the slapping information and the stun gun incident in his report.
