1 Killed, 14 Injured In Wedding Party Crash
Bus Limo Tipped, Trapping People Inside

INDIANAPOLIS -- One person was killed and 14 others injured when members of a wedding party were trapped after their shuttle bus driver ran a red light, police said.The group was riding in a limousine bus from Mavris Art and Event Center on their way to take pictures downtown before the wedding ceremony Saturday afternoon when the driver failed to stop at the intersection of South and Delaware streets, said Lt. Jeff Duhamell.The shuttle bus was struck by an oncoming SUV and tipped."The impact was so great that it actually knocked it sideways and that's when (the shuttle) flipped over," said Lt. Jeff Duhamell. "According to the individuals inside, luggage and the seats basically pinned everybody down."James Douglas, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he had been standing up against a pole when the crash happened.Clarian Health spokeswoman Holly Vonderheit said the bride and groom were among seven people taken to Methodist Hospital for treatment. Wishard Hospital spokesman Todd Harper said seven others were taken to that hospital. All had been released by late Sunday evening.The driver of the SUV -- Camilo Ortega-Alvarado, 27, was not hurt. He was cited for never having received a license.The bride and groom went ahead with the wedding, getting married in a hospital conference room Saturday evening.
