Mom Charged After Twins Confined

Woman Faces Neglect, Drunken Driving Charges

POSTED: 10:25 am EDT June 29, 2010

A woman was charged late Monday with two counts of neglect of a dependent and one count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after she left her twin toddlers home alone and confined to their room so she could go drink, police said.

Jacquelyn Wood, 24, of Lebanon was arrested Friday after she returned home while Boone County sheriff's deputies were still there.

The girls' grandfather, Bruce Wood, said he found Madilyn and Mckayla, both 2, screaming in their bedroom, unable to get out, police said.

The grandfather broke into the home and found that the girls were locked in their rooms by a nylon strap that was connected between door handles.

Police said the girls had no access to water or food and that they had been in their room for more than three hours.

The girls' father returned from Afghanistan to help deal with the situation.
