BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- A registered sex offender faces new charges after he inappropriately touched two boys and told them he would kill them if they told, authorities said.Steven L. Dickinson, 44, of Bloomington, hired and worked unsupervised with at least five children starting in May, and some of the incidents happened on state property, said Angela Goldman, a Department of Natural Resources officer."He was paying a handful of boys some cash money to assist him in getting some recyclable materials from old building sites," Goldman said. The children told investigators that Dickinson made daily sexual comments on the job and would often take them swimming or to drive-in movies after work, touching two boys inside their clothing, 6News' Tanya Spencer reported. One of the boys claimed he was molested during a showing of "Iron Man 2" at the Starlite Drive-In. Another boy said he was touched inappropriately while riding around Lake Monroe in Dickinson's truck. The other three boys denied that Dickinson had inappropriate contact with them.Dickinson was arrested Thursday morning on two counts each of child molestation, child solicitation and intimidation."I think they're ridiculous," said Alma Dickinson, Steven's mother. "I think the kids lied."Alma Dickinson claimed the children became angry when they demanded her son pay them more money and he refused."I would never let my son near him," said one woman who lives in the same apartment complex as Steven Dickinson, who is listed on the state sex offender registry as someone who has received "vicarious sexual gratification, including performing sexual conduct in the presence of a minor."Officials said that the mother of one of the two boys found out that Dickinson was a registered sex offender but decided to let her son continue to work with him as long as he was with other boys, thinking there was safety in numbers.Experts said parents should never let their child go with in adult they don't know unless they're supervised by other adults the parents trust.Dickinson was being held in the Monroe County Jail Thursday night.
