A deputy township trustee was charged with felony theft after investigators found that she had stolen more than $150,000 in a five-year period, police said.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Curt Durnil said that investigators and the Indiana State Board of Accounts determined that April Eagon-Dorsett, 39, of Bedford, wrote checks from the Shawswick Township account to herself and her husband, Randy Dorsett, for services that weren't done.

Investigators said Eagon-Dorsett had begun taking money from the office in 2005 and that the thefts continued through the first part of this year.

Eagon-Dorsett faces a sentence of two to eight years in prison and fines of up to $10,000, if convicted.
